Welcome To the CGS PTO, Inc. Website! How does the PTO work?
PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization, where parents (or guardians) and teachers voluntarily work together to create fundraising ideas, fun activities and events for our school. Anyone can participate in the CGS PTO meetings. You do not have to be "on the PTO." The PTO is simply just a group of parents, guardians, teachers and CGS staff members willing to volunteer their time to improve your child's CGS experience. What to expect at a PTO meeting? The PTO meets every other month (see our calendar page for dates/times). During the meeting we review our finances, recap past events, and begin planning new events. As events are decided, we typically ask for volunteers to join sub-committees to participate in ongoing planning for each event. Sub-committees are used in order to best leverage the time and talents of our volunteers. Please note however that you do not need to volunteer to attend a PTO meeting. Event sub-committees may have additional meetings related to an event and/or communicate by phone, email, text, etc… PTO Board Members will assist the sub-committees as needed and at least one PTO Board Member will attend every event. Where does the money go? All money from PTO fundraising events goes toward enrichment events or fun activities/events for the CGS students including, but not limited to: educational programs, musical performances, the ice cream social, and the end of the year picnic. In addition, we always welcome new ideas for events and activities that will enhance the CGS experience! |
